The Challenge
A mid-size financial services firm produced monthly consolidation reports by manually exporting data from three separate ERP platforms and merging them inside Excel. The process took a full day per analyst, introduced frequent formula errors, and created version-control conflicts when multiple team members edited the same workbook simultaneously.
Our Solution
We built a task-pane Excel add-in using Office.js that authenticates users against the firm's Azure AD tenant, fetches live data from all three ERP REST APIs via Azure Functions middleware, and writes the consolidated figures directly into named ranges. The add-in enforces cell-level locking to prevent concurrent editing conflicts and generates a timestamped audit trail sheet on every refresh.
